Teachers at Drew wave good/bye

As the buses roll out of the parking lot, the teachers wave good-bye!!!!!

PEACE WALK -A Drew Tradition

Another Drew tradition is the annual Peace Walk through the neighborhood.  Parents and families walk through the neighborhood, walking for peace.  People in the neighborhood came out of their homes to wave to the sea of orange.

Last Few Weeks Were A Blur

The last few weeks of school were chock full of learning and fun activities.  The children continued working hard getting the gardens ready for summer.  Many enjoyed clipping the flowers for flower arrangements and had such fun with the variety of flowers in the garden.  They splashed around at the water park, touched a live snake more than eight feet long, participated in a special performance by Bob Brown puppets, and continued water play on the playground with pools and sprayers. The 3rd years made a butterfly stepping stone to leave in the garden to make their mark for future classes to enjoy.  The first and second years had free range access to their beloved art materials. The experimentation yielded very interesting creations. Ms Shevina led the 3rd years in artistically expressing their favorite aspect of our class in during their time here on the legs of our refurbished desks.  They are in the process of being coated with polyurethane and pictures will be posted later.

Water Park Fun💦

It is almost a tradition for the Drew Primary Montessori classes to visit the water park at the bottom of the hill.  The weather held out for us and the children were able to enjoy the spray after all.  Thank you Mrs. Greenwood for snapping some shots for the blog.

         Special time with Ms Shevina

Our Culinary Skills Blossom

Today Maddie's mom brought in all the fixings to make Sushi, without the fish. The children enjoyed rolling the rice in the seaweed sheets.  More than that they really enjoyed eating them.  We also shared them with Ms Kalkus's class.

First they Taste the Seawood while
we waited for the rice to steam.

Next the rice is spread across the
                       Seaweed.

             Then comes the rolling.

              They were a huge hit.

Making Bread

             Baking Mini Loaves of Bread

Mixing the ingredients in a bag
             Kneading the dough

The children have been working hard all year and now is the time when we can let them test their skills.  We have been working on bread making.  The children measured, kneaded, rolled and patted down their tiny loaves.  They enjoyed a choice of butter or olive oil.

Expanding Our Horizons

We are nearing the end of the year and the third year students have been taking their lessons to new levels.  The goal is after having worked with the materials for several years, what else can we build with them.  How else can we look at them.
